CHICAGO AUTO SHOW GLEAMS IN HIGH DEFINITION DEBUT JULY 8
Bill Baker hosts with guest commentator William Jeanes
|
The 30-minute show features Bill Baker, a long-time automotive industry public relations executive, as host and guide to the stunning new vehicles shown at this year’s Chicago Auto Show. Baker has returned to his broadcast journalism background after retiring from a distinguished 30-year career.
Joining Bill as guest commentator is William Jeanes, a contributing editor to AutoWeek magazine and a former Editor-in-Chief and publisher of Car and Driver.
The pair’s easy style captures the highlights of the show in a knowledgeable and often humorous way. From admiring the new Aston Martin DB9 Volante to reclining in the massaging seats of the $362,000 Maybach 62, the quips and insights are not your usual automotive fare. As they pass a Mazda prototype named Ibuki, Jeanes asks, “Did you know that Ibuki means ‘singing lizard’ in Japanese?” But there’s plenty of insight as well as they talk about concept cars from Pontiac, Chevrolet and Ford, and the full-size pick-ups on the way from Toyota and Honda.
“Dreams on Wheels is a fun, informative addition to our original high definition programming line-up,” said Mark Boccardi, senior manager, Product Development for iN Demand Networks. “Watching the program through the prism of widescreen HD adds an entirely new perspective that clearly captures the essence of our love affair with automobiles. We think Bill and William did a great job of telling car enthusiasts about the best out there, but in a way that non-car folks will also find entertaining.”
Bill Baker’s company, Baker Productions and Communications Ltd of Laguna Niguel, CA produces automotive and lifestyle television programs for high definition broadcasters as well as stories and concepts for FORBES fyi, UK’s Land Rover Enthusiast magazine and others. Bill writes, hosts and produces programs for both general broadcast and private clients. Bill’s award-winning documentaries span the globe and have appeared on Discovery, The Learning Channel, Outdoor Life Network, ESPN and espn2.
“It’s been great fun getting back to my broadcast roots after taking early retirement last year,” said Baker. “There are so many new products out there, so many new communications media, that the opportunities are boundless.”
Bill is a member of The Explorer’s Club, The Royal Geographic Society, the British American Business Council of Orange County, and the Motor Press Guild of Los Angeles
